Join our Cougar Corps!
The Cougar Corps is our team of dedicated volunteers who enhance our school spirit. Because of them, we accomplish so much more, and we value their contribution to our school community. From tutoring to coaching, staffing events to chaperoning field trips, editing college essays to proctoring entrance exams; volunteers enrich our student experience.
Because we care very much about the safety of our students, we require all regular volunteers to complete the Protecting God’s Children training and a background check. Meeting these requirements and becoming a member of our Cougar Corps allows you to interact with our students and certifies you to volunteer in any Catholic school or program.
We’re waiting for you! To join the Cougar Corps, complete these 3 steps:
Step 2: Attend a Protecting God’s Children training session
Registration must be done online at Virtus Online. Follow the links on the left side of the page to begin the registration process or view a list of upcoming sessions. When asked to select your organization, select “Columbus OH (Diocese)”.You can register for any session in the diocese.Upon completion, you will receive a Certificate of Training Attendance.
Step 3: Submit to a Criminal BCI Background Check
These services are provided by Department of Motor Vehicles, the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio, or FastFingerprints. Results should be sent to Attn: Regina Quinn, Diocese of Columbus, 197 E. Gay St, Columbus OH 43215.
After we’ve received your application, Certificate of Training Attendance and results from the background check, you will be invited to participate in a volunteer interview. The interview provides an opportunity for you to visit the school, ask questions, and identify what most interests you at Cristo Rey Columbus.
